Guest Blogger - A Rare Ruby Crafts - Two Ways for Floral Dimension

Hello, friends! I'm delighted to be a guest for Tonic Studios today. I have two cards to share with you today that are different in style. One requires no stamping at all! I'd like to thank Tonic Studios for being so generous and giving me this opportunity to share my creativity with you all. I am hoping that it inspires you to create. PROJECTS Tonic Studios carries some amazing speciality paper, including high gloss mirror cards and glitter cards. I recently fell in love with the High Gloss Mirror Card in Glossy Black and decided to show off how luxurious it looks on a card. First, I'll share about a card that requires no stamping at all - only die-cutting.

I started by die-cutting a cover die that would also give off an embossed look on the High Gloss Mirror Card. I ran it through my die-cutting machine, and I used the Nuvo Flat Tip Glue Pen to adhere it to my folded card base (size A2 - 4.25" x 5.5").

Next, I ran a floral die through my die-cutting machine with High Gloss Mirror Card in Glossy Black and then again in Midnight Plum. I ran the die a third time using Glitter Card in Gold Dust and kept only the outline. Very carefully, I adhered the Glossy Black as leaves and the Midnight Plum as the main parts of the flower. Instead of using the traditional green for leaves, I wanted to keep it black to go with the base.

Finally, I needed a sentiment. I have noticed a trend of word dies that come with an outline and I used it for this card. I used Glossy Black for the word die and Gold Dust for the word outline. I glued both to the bottom of the base with Nuvo Flat Tip Glue Pen. For the floral cluster, I mounted it near the top right with Dimensional Foam Pads for some dimension.

For my second card, I went with a different look. I stamped several floral images with a black dye ink that is alcohol ink friendly. I used Nuvo Marker Pen Collections in various shades to color the flowers and leaves.

For the background, I cut down a piece of White Watercolor Card to 4" x 5.25". I used the Brilliantly Vibrant Watercolor Pencils to color across the card. I added a little bit of water to blend the colors and let it dry. Then I adhered it to my A2 folded card base with Nuvo Flat Tip Glue Pen. I added the flowers over the colored base with Dimensional Foam Pads.

For the sentiment, I stamped it in clear embossing ink and heat-embossed in white on black cardstock. I trimmed it down and mounted it next to the flowers with Dimensional Foam Pads.
