Hello! Hope you’re ok!
A little while back, Tonic launched some new glitter markers along with some new stamp sets. I got the Sparkle set along with 6 new colours.
I thought I’d show you some of the projects I created to give you some ideas on how to use them!
First up- as a background! I used the richness of the newer Tonic Alcohol markers to add colour to the stamped flowers and simply coloured in the rest of the image. Up close, it has a beautiful shimmer and helps the floral image really pop!
Next up, I stamped the small flower in the Laguna Bay Nuvo Hybrid ink which dries perfectly on vellum and added highlights to the flowers in the Glitter markers. I wrapped it around a simple box, adding a strip of white cardstock to bring the coloured vellum to life and finished with a sentiment coloured in with more Glitter marker!
This next example showcases the Glitter Markers in two ways; using it to watercolour an embossed sentiment and also to dot around the ‘Sparkle’ giving it emphasis. See how we’ve created an almost ombré effect simply by dragging a water brush up from the partially coloured letters. Super easy and really cool! Just dotting in different colours draws your attention to the main part of the card!
My next card used the glitter markers when they’ve had water added to them. Simply colour the stamp with glitter markers ( this was really easy using the Tim Holtz/Tonic Stamping platform) and then spritz with water and stamp! It gives a gorgeous soft effect and shimmers beautifully! I loved creating the accordion pleating which really makes the card stand out! ( literally!!)
Lastly, I heat embossed with white embossing powder and coloured the stamped image with the Nuvo shimmer powders. This one is called Violet Brocade. I simply went over parts of the flowers once dried with the Glitter Markers and it glistens beautifully in the light!
I hope this gives you some ideas for how to use the Glitter Markers. They might seem like an ordinary pen on the outside, but inside, they have craft super powers!!
Take care and see you soon!
