All I can say is TGIF and phew, what a week!
it's been super extra busy for me and I'd love to start my Friday by sharing three cards and a mixed media tutorial using some of the new Tonic Studios confetti, sequins and glitter. Now this is a loooong blog post so if your're not a reader, there are lots and lots of photos you can enjoy.
That said...OH MY STARS!! There are craft embellishments and there are 'craft embellishments'! You KNOW what I mean and I don't need to say much else except YOU NEED, YOU NEED, YOU NEED. I honestly rubbed my hands with glee and squealed when my parcel arrived.
I've made a trio of cards, which I'll share with you but my main focus is a mixed media technique based tutorial.
I was shocked after typing and linking the long list of materials for this relatively simple card. But then again, it's mixed media so what did I expect?! lol
Nuvo Watercolour Card
Other Materials
Adhesive
Foam Pads
We R Memory Keepers Plastic Next Level Embossing Folders - Geometric
AssembleThis is a 15.25 cm squared card (6 x 6 inches)
Ocean blue 15.25 cm (6 x 6 inches)
Black Gloss 14.6 (5.75 x 5.75 inches)
Mixed Media Card 14cm (5.5 x 5.5 inches)
After embossing your mixed media card, apply Nuvo Pen adhesive in a random pattern and wait for the tackiness (about a minute or so).
Apply the gilding flakes with your fingers to cover the entire card and give it 30 seconds or so to ensure it sticks. Take a stiff brush and gently wipe away all the excess flakes. You can add more glue and repeat the process if required.
*Please note - gilding flakes are crazy mofos and get everywhere so hold your breathe and hope for the best! I ate more than I used
Splatter
Using Aqua Flow Pens, splatter some ink on your mixed media card. I really really like all the texture this card has - with the geometric embossed shapes, gilding flakes and ink splatters.
Using Watercolour card, cut out two butterflies and a sentiment and colour them with your Aqua Flow Pens.

Simply finish your card with additional sequins and you have a wonderful mixed media piece.
I just LOVE the AQUA Flakes on the butterfly and the way the gilding flakes catch the light.
My husband is not a mixed media fan but he said my mixed media card was visually stunning and his favourite. I was surprised and maybe he's been converted, hehe.
My other two cards are shaker cards using some of the other Nuvo Confetti and Sequins, which are LUSH!
Star shaker card
A2 card (5x5 inches x 4.25 inches)
Tonic Basic Latyering Stars, Nuvo Glitter Drops, Craft Perfect Paper and Nuvo Twine were used to create this wonderfully simply shaker style card. Aren't the new Confetti and sequins beautiful?!
As this is an A2 size, I also made a quick envelope to complete the project.
XL shaker tag
This giant tag uses A LOT of glitter! And sequins!

The wonderful Paula Pascual will be on Hochanda today, 12th January, 2018 at 6pm with some wonderful demonstrations.
If you have any questions just ask and I'd be happy to answer. I'd also love you to leave me feedback/a comment.
Thank you so much and have a great weekend!
Lots of love and hugs
Jennifer xx
