The Briar Patch - Nicky Gilburt

I'd like to share one more card that I made with the Beautiful Bramble Frame dies just launched by Tonic Studios. They are so lovely to work with...

This card uses the Briar Patch set of dies, and the technique I have used for this one involves my most favourite colouring pens, my adored Nuvo Aqua Flows.
I die-cut the square wreath which includes the little doormouse, in white smooth Craft Perfect card. Then I made shades of green on my glass mat by mixing the two greens in the set and adding a tiny drop of brown, and simply painted round my die-cut, colouring some leaves and branches lighter, some darker. To get the berry colour I mixed red and purple on my mat, and got the perfect combination.
You can see that I have used kraft card on this project, and I also used some on my little mouse, cutting out just that section of the frame and snipping him out. I then stuck this down onto plain white which I lightly watercoloured through with a pale brown. For his nose I added a drop of Nuvo Crystal Glaze, and his eyes were coloured black with a tiny streak of white gel pen to bring them to life.

For the very base background I thought I would make a matt using the colours I had used on the wreath. I simply mixed a little ink from the pens with a spray of water on my glass mat, and picked them up with a bent strip of acetate, and blotted them round the edge of my card, for a random watery effect. I added tiny dashes of my pinky red, to match the berries.
The Best Wishes is a much loved Tonic Studios sentiment, and one that I use a lot, I cut it in Bright White and Raspberry Pink Craft Perfect card and layered them for a touch of shadow, adding a couple more water coloured berries for good measure!

Happy Crafting!
